AN INTERIOR designer has revealed the three worst trends that he can’t stand.
So if you want your home to impress, then you’ll need to listen up – and prepare to be attacked if you bought into the popular boucle trend.
Bilal Rehman, an interior designer from the US, shared his thoughts on modern farmhouse decor, boucle furniture and open concept shelving.
Not only did Bilal claim that modern farmhouse decor, which focuses on deep greens and earthy tones, as well as powdery pastel colours, screams ‘no personality’, but he also claimed that open concept shelving has ‘got to go’.
Sharing his thoughts on social media, Bilal described the three interior trends as “not worth the hype.”
The design lover got candid on the modern farmhouse trend, as he snapped: “If you want people to know that you have no personality and fourth of July is your favourite holiday, then modern farmhouse is definitely your interior design style.”
Bilal then claimed that the modern farmhouse trend is “so good at giving nothing.”
He also shared his thoughts on boucle fabric – and he didn’t hold back.
The content creator added: “If you choose boucle fabric for any of your furniture, it’s safe to say that you’re really dirty.
“You’re the type of thrifter who doesn’t bother washing the clothes before you wear them, and I simply don’t like you.”
The interior bro then opened up on open concept shelving.
He explained: “This is a new trend I’m starting to see a lot of – and let’s just say, she has got to go.”
BIG DIVIDE
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @bilalrehmanstudio, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 93,600 views.
But the video has left social media users divided – and many were keen to express their thoughts in the comments.

More info on these homeware trends
MODERN FARMHOUSE DECOR: This decorating style tends to favour neutrals, with white paint, pine finishes and linen fabrics.
You’ll also see rustic architectural accents with this trend – think barn doors, reclaimed mantels, and exposed beams.
Such decor is often constructed from wicker, rattan, or untreated wood.
BOUCLE: This material has a knotty texture, thanks to the irregular, often curly threads of yarn it is woven from.
Such yarn is most often made of wool, silk or cotton fibers, making it a soft, cosy choice for upholstery.
Boucle has taken over homeware by storm – with chairs, cushions and even light fittings made from the material.
OPEN SHELVING: It’s got the potential to make a space look bigger – this trend is a popular storage solution, without the doors.
Rather than a standard cupboard, which has its contents hidden, open shelving allows for an open view of items stored.
Also known as floating shelves, this trend has grown in popularity over the past decade, with many layering up different sizes items for variety.
A third commented: “I agree with all my heart on modern farmhouse.”
However, at the same time, someone else wrote: “Okay okay I MUST push back on the open concept shelving….I LOVE IT SO MUCH!”
I feel so victimised

Another admitted: “No to boucle? I’m clutching my pearls.”
Whilst one design fan penned: “I feel so victimised.”
