Typically, I am drawn to living spaces with calming, minimalist sensibilities. Neutral tones, natural materials, and soft textures are what feel most me; however, I love to be proven wrong, and Johnny Galecki’s maximalist living room has done just that.
The Pierce & Ward-designed room is truly maximalist in every sense of the word. From the green-painted walls to the blown-up, black-and-white photographs, the space is a masterclass in bold pairings and pattern play.

One of the aspects I love most about this space is the coffee table decoration. Covered in stacks of books, magazines, and paperweights, the table has a bookshelf wealth feeling; one that encourages browsing and lounging around in the surrounding sofas. It notably doesn’t feel cluttered either, with the stacks spaced out and piled up neatly and intentionally.
I also love the mix of patterned cushions on the different couches. While the space features solid-colored sofas in navy blue, key lime green, and brown, the plaid, floral, and striped pillows add some more personality to the conversational seating area.
Finally, the dramatic lighting ideas make the space feel glamorous and primed for entertaining. Rather than going for a soft scheme of lamps, the overhead lighting serves as a bold point of interest in itself, and makes the case for keeping the big light on.
